Here are some photos from my holiday to New York many years back in 2006! It was the first holiday I went on after buying an SLR camera, so my first ever set of pictures that I put a lot of effort into.
I visited the Empire State Building during the day, and the Rockefeller Center at night. I’d already heard before I went that the Rockerfeller Center is better to visit than the Empire State Building, and I think this is true – mainly because you can see the Empire State Building from it! And Central Park in the other direction. If you get a chance, I’d recommend what I did though, visit one during the day and one at night.
I also visited the Statue of Liberty (book ahead!), and the filming location for the Friends Apartment Block on the corner of Grove Street and Bedford in Greenwich Village.
I stayed pretty central in the Hotel Chandler – right next to the Empire State Building, which was a pretty good base. While there, I basically did all the usual touristy things, but I’m particularly proud of my photo of Grand Central Station – particularly as I somehow managed to get away with using a tripod to get a slow shutter speed, without being moved on by security!
Make sure you visit Juniors Cheesecake – almost worth going to New York for alone!
